Material:-
Static cast special alloy iron of our indefinite chill quality class.
The surface hardness of these qualities is 350 HV-550 HV adjustable.
The softer qualities have proved to be more usefull for flour mills.
The hardness decline in these roll qualities is minimal.
Even with a 20% reduction in diameter the surface harness will still remain on practicully the same level as with the initial diameter.
A few more data for comparing the physical properties of the indefinite chill quality with the classical chilled cast iron :

Field of application:-
1) In all passages of wheat milling plant where classical smooth rolls have been employed to –date.
2) For sizing reduction, tailing reduction and later and last middling where for milling engineering reasons fluted rolls had to be used until now.
3) For middling passages in combined wheat-rye flour mills where fluted rolls head to be used for reasons of milling engineering.
4) For many specific crushing, cracking and milling tasks where in the absence of specific methods of comminution classical smooth rolls, fluted rolls, impact grinders or other systems were necessary so far. This applies to the milling and cracking or processing of bulk material in all fields, mainly however to the foodstuffs, stimulants, spices, fodder and chemical and pharmaceutics industries.
Function:-
Evidence of the superiority even of the classical clear chill cast smooth roll over all other comminution and auxiliary facilities as regards a long flour extraction in wheat mills has existed for decades.
The negative secondary effects that limit the application of classical clear chill cast smooth rolls, e.g. the relatively higher energy consumption the relatively low rate of feed per unit of roll length and the increasing smoothing of the rolls (that deteriorates their function progressively and calls for reworking them by grinding and sandblasting) relate mainly to other alternative comminution and /or crushing machines.
The new self-surfacing smooth rolls that stem from the class of indefinite chill qualities can be manufactured to defined degrees of hardness relative to the individual passages and owing to the specific grist hardness and grain structure and the associated properties, such as particle size resistance to comminution etc., they are surface adjusted to the individual passages. The optimal surface roughness required for Internally generated and maintained.
The independently maintained pass and / or grinding stock related surface roughness allows for an optimal comminution to be achieved already at energy saving nip pressures i.e. at larger nip widths than with classical smooth rolls. Seeing no energy is lost (first law in the theory of heat) but merely transformed, this stands for a significantly cooler comminution at an (highly desirable) lower evaporation.
Provided due regard is afforded the roller mill characteristics, i.e. the roll, differential roll diameter and gap adjustment, the following proven advantage are achieved. when classical chill cast smooth rolls are replaced by self-surfacing indefinite chill smooth rolls.
a) More flour, or flour with a lower ash content.
b) More flour with a lower ash content.
c) Lower drive energy consumption at unchanged rate of feed.
d) Higher rate of feed at unchanged drive energy consumption.
e) Reduction of evaporation losses a lower thermal influence on the grinding stock.
It is advisable to include detailed information on the roll parameters of your milling system , and their specific tasks in your inquiry, or purchase order so as to enable us to choose the material and workmanship best suited to the purpose. It should be noted on principle that, the more detailed and comprehensive the technological information we receive is, all the more accurately can we define the specific roll quality and workmanship to be supplied.
As regards order for non wheat mills, details should be given with regard to the comminution system and the product at issue. the more in depth and comprehensive the technical details, the more specific will be selection of the appropriate roll quality be. |
